STEM Heroes is an educational flashcard and quiz application featuring 188 African American pioneers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is a product of Spook Intellect LLC.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the STEM Heroes application and website (stemheroesapp.com). We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, especially children.
STEM Heroes is designed for use by K–12 students, including children under the age of 13. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
School administrators and educators using the app in a classroom setting do not need to obtain parental consent for students to access STEM Heroes, as the app collects no student data whatsoever.
From students using the app: None. The STEM Heroes flashcard and quiz application stores no user data. All interactions (card flips, quiz answers, category filters) happen locally in the user's browser and are not transmitted to any server.

This information is used solely to respond to licensing inquiries and is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties.
From website visitors (stemheroesapp.com): Our website is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, browser type, pages visited) as part of normal web hosting operations. We do not use this data for marketing or tracking purposes. See GitHub's Privacy Statement for details.
The STEM Heroes student app does not use cookies or any tracking technologies.
The stemheroesapp.com website (landing page) may use minimal, necessary cookies associated with our contact form provider (Formspree). These cookies do not track student users and are only present on the marketing/landing page, not in the educational app itself.
Because STEM Heroes collects virtually no user data, the risk of a data breach involving student information is minimal by design. The information submitted through our contact form is transmitted securely via HTTPS and processed by Formspree, which maintains industry-standard security practices.
We retain educator inquiry data only as long as necessary to respond to and fulfill licensing requests.
Schools and districts that purchase a STEM Heroes license do not provide us with student data. Licensed schools receive access to the same browser-based application available to all users, along with curriculum alignment documents, lesson plan templates, and support resources.
No student roster, student names, student email addresses, or any other student personally identifiable information (PII) is ever transmitted to Spook Intellect LLC as part of a school or district license.

Continued use of STEM Heroes after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
